More about Dinah Eppel:

My name is Dinah Eppel. I arrived back home in South Africa in 1994, after 11 years away. And dived into a new way of living in my country.
The stories I tell are about what I did and what people I met – and knew and loved, and lived with, and worked with – during the early years of possibility and nation building.
“The stories in the show ³Wish you were (t)here² are remembered incidents that took place in times of innocence, and of earnest, honest desire to create the beautiful society we dreamed of and fought for. The events speak of our deepest understandings of the ecstasy of a new South Africa. These vignettes of simple day-to-day events have vast implications for our democracy and its underlying value system, then and today. They are a plea to re-value our South African qualities that are readily, immediately recognizable to South Africans who see with the heart.² From the Cape Town Fringe.

On October 29th, I will be telling some stories that were in the show, and some that were not.
Comment from Dawn Garisch, author and poet, who saw the show in October 2013:
³(Dinah)Š has had an extraordinary life, and she brings vignettes to the audience with verve, compassion and humour. Much of the time I could not help thinking that she is a modern day Herman Charles Bosman, bringing stories not from Groot Marico district, but from contemporary African townships. She has a big heart, and a strong voice. Her stories illustrate the kind of insight and attitude we need more of in our country. I was captivated. Do go and see it.
