July Workshops with Enlighten Education Trust

As we did last year, we will be holding a two-day workshop in Hermanus, on 3 and 4 July at Enlighten Education Trust in Zwelihle with a star-studded cast! Blaq Pearl will be working her magic with poetry and song, various people will give input on their work in environmental education and share stories with the children and CBN will provide the solid background of books and stories and the critical importance of reading.

Poet Primrose Mrwebi will share aspects of her words and work and there will be art and craft activities. As a very special treat, we will have the team of musicians, dancers and motivational speakers from Chris Hani High in Khayelitsha who have just performed in Sweden as part of the Worlds Children’s Prize festivities. The World’s Children’s Prize Foundation trains Child Rights Ambassadors in schools – the children in the WCP band are all trained child rights ambassadors who speak at schools and attended the World’s Children’s Prize award ceremony in Sweden in April this year. They are part of an ongoing programme in association with the National Department of Basic Education.

Note: Our congratulations to the Children’s Rights Ambassadors, who are part of the winning Western Cape Choir Competition. This sadly means that they will be unable to take part in the workshop as thy will be flying to Johannesburg for the finals. Next time …

We are all looking forward to it very much!

The workshop will begin at 10.00 on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 July, with hot chocolate and muffins for the children at 9.45 and a hot lunch midday. The workshop will finish at around three, depending on the energy of the children (and facilitators!)
