On a Saturday morning a bit of story-telling always comes in handy and some of our stalwart Stanford CBN children met to celebrate the holidays and listen to An African Mother Christmas by Gcina Mhlophe and Star Mother’s youngest child by Louise Moeri.
Not only was glitter allowed (encouraged, even) but cake was supplied. Nobody decorated themselves, or anyone else, with either and everyone listened attentively to two Christmas-themed stories from opposite ends of the world. As this workshop fell on South Africa’s Day of Reconciliation, we touched briefly on the need for people to see the good in each other and to recognise how much we humans are really all the same in their hearts – if we just look.
Thanks (as always) the Butterfly Centre for use of their premises and to Hildegard Witbooi for ably assisting – and taking some lovely photographs.
We will be back with more holiday workshops in January.
