The final programme is in and the excitement is building for the week when book people meet children in Franschhoek before the festival begins.
This year we have over fifty visitors confirmed and we will begin with the pre-readers and early readers on Monday 15th and work our way steadily through until a programme for older readers on Thursday 18th.
Monday 15th: A contingent of storytellers will visit schools, spreading the message that stories are wonderful – and books are the nearest thing to eating chocolate. Writers and illustrators will also talk about books for younger readers.
Tuesday 16th: will find Nal’ibali in the valley, bringing the reading word to slightly older children and there will be a squad of writers and illustrators being ferried to schools as well.
Wednesday 17th: Gcina Mhlophe will work her story (and book) magic and we will concentrate on Grades 5 and 6. Other book people will be ferried to schools by the wonderful parents of Bridge House pupils.
Thursday: is for older readers. Blaq Pearl and Emil Jansen will join forces with local artist Jerome Julies, Primrose Mrwebi will host a discussion by publishers and an agent and FUNZA will showcase some of their latest stories.
