Saturday Stories continue in May in Clanwilliam with the themes of: Things I love to love and hate! There will also be a writing exercise involving free thought and large (very large) and small (very small) writing. Featured books and stories will be continuing the bird theme of April (Paul Gallico’s book The Snow Goose) with African bird stories by Gcina Mhlophe (Lungile), Nick Greaves (Why guinea fowl calls the dawn), Jenny Seed (The eagle and the lark) and Cicley van straten (Xhabbo and the honey guide). These stories are taken from well known collections of African stories:
Stories of Africa by Gcina Mhlophe, published by University of Natal Press in 2003
Storyland compiled by Jay Heale, illustrated by Joan Rankin and published by Tafelberg in 1988
When lion could fly, told by Nick Greaves and published by Struik in 1993
