There will be two weekend workshops during May around the themes of time, rock art and people in the valley. There is space for 25 participants at each workshop.
1 Primary School – grades 4,5,6 & 7
Day One: Friday 15th after school (2.30 to 5.00). There will be snacks on arrival. Stories and writing, artwork and craft around the theme.
Day Two Saturday 16th 10.00 to 2.30. Lunch will be provided during the break and snacks on arrival. Members of the archaeology team working around the dam will show pictures and describe their work. There will be stories, music, writing and artwork.
2 High School Grades 7,8,9 &10
Day One: Friday 29th after school (2.30 to 5.00). There will be snacks on arrival. Stories and writing, artwork and craft around the theme of Time in the valley.
Day Two: Saturday 30th: Snack at 10.00, short lunch break at 12.30. Lunch will be provided during the break and snacks on arrival. Members of the archaeology team working around the dam will describe their work and participants will work on writing and art around the theme of time and the people of the valley.
These workshops are part of the on going Clanwilliam Dam Community Project, cooperation between Clanwilliam Living Landscape Project, Children’s Book Network and PGS Heritage with the Department of Water and Sanitation. Eight events have already been held in this series and a further eight will take place before the end of October.
